The project is co-financed through the Swiss-Romanian Cooperation Programme to reduce the economic and social disparities within the enlarged European Union. The contract for the provision of consultancy services, in a total value of over 4’900’000 CHF, develops under the Project “Pre-Feasibility Study and Feasibility Study to construct Line 4 of the subway: Lac Straulesti – Gara Progresu, extension Gara de Nord – Gara Progresu” with a total budget of 11’900’000 CHF, out of which a maximum of 8’500’000 CHF represents the non-reimbursable Swiss Contribution. The drafting out of the Studies of the Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility aims to fundament the opportunity of developing the underground public network in Bucharest through the construction of the Metro Line Gara de Nord – Gara Progresu. This metro line, of 14 km length, will provide linking between the area of downtown of Gara de Nord, an area of business, trade, administration, education and Progresu area, by connecting two of the most important railway stations of Bucharest: Gara de Nord and Gara Progresu and linking thus the city on the North-West – South direction.
The contract’s signing took place on September 28 in the presence of the Ambassador of Switzerland, Urs Herren, of the Secretary of State within the Ministry of Transportation, Dragos Titea, the Head of the Swiss Contribution Office in Bucharest, Roland Python, of representatives of the NCU – Ministry of Public Finance, IB – ministry of Regional Development, Public Administration and European Funds, management of Metrorex and staff of the Consortium’s teams.
