Launching event of the Swiss-Romanian Justice Programme

The launching conference for the Public Security and Safety - Justice Programmefunded by Switzerland's second contribution to Romania and managed by the Romanian Ministry of Justice as the Program Operator took place in Bucharest.

The event was dedicated to presenting the importance of Swiss funding for the Romanian judicial system, in relation to the achievements and good practices developed during the first Swiss Contribution to Romania, the challenges and objectives pursued in the areas covered by the Programme, namely juvenile justice, the fight against organized crime, corruption, and financial crime, as well as support for the recovery of crimes assets. 

In his speech, the Swiss Ambassador to Romania Massimo Baggi, stated, among other things that:

"A resilient democracy depends on an independent, impartial judiciary that enjoys the trust of its citizens. Strengthening judicial institutions is not just a technical endeavor, but a democratic necessity that ensures equality before the law and protects the rights and freedoms that underpin our societies. This program reflects the deep and long-standing partnership between Switzerland and Romania, based on shared values: integrity, transparency, human dignity, and a firm commitment to the rule of law."
