The Ministry of Justice together with the Embassy of Switzerland in Bucharest launched on Friday, November 4, 2016, the project "Support to the National Anticorruption Strategy objectives through increased recovery of claims over criminal assets ".

The objective of this project is to create within the National Agency for the Management of Unavailable Assets (ANABI), of an integrated national information system of filing claims over criminal assets in the form of a database that reflects the work of the institutions involved in every stage of recovery and capitalization of debts by including information on goods and measures taken by the prosecutors, courts and enforcement bodies. The computer system will have a value of about 850,000 Swiss francs.

Among the main activities to be carried out within the project should be mentioned:

Developing the integrated national information system of tracking claims arising from crimes;
Training of representatives of the target group that will use the integrated national information system of tracking claims arising from crimes;
Acquisition of IT equipment (servers and computers) for system users to allow entering the necessary data;

The event was attended by His Excellency Urs Herren, Ambassador of Switzerland in Romania, Mr. Adrian Baboi-Stroe, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Justice, Mr. Cornel - Virgil Calinescu, General Director of the National Agency for the Management of Unavailable Assets (ANABI) and the experts appointed by the project partner, the Basel Institute on Governance, Mrs. Claire Daams and Mr. Pedro Gomez Pereira.

In his speech, Ambassador Urs Herren mentioned: "Since long time, Switzerland successfully supports cooperation programs in Romania, especially in the area of justice and security. At the present case we are privileged to support a partnership between a Swiss Institute with an extensive experience in the field and the newly created ANABI. Personally, I am very happy to say that Romania continues to be a serious partner, secure and reliable."

The project is co-financed under the Swiss-Romanian Cooperation Programme to reduce economic and social disparities within the enlarged European Union and it is implemented in partnership with the Basel Institute on Governance in Switzerland. The project has a budget of CHF 866,021.10, out of which 85% - CHF 736,117.94 represents the Swiss Government contribution and 15% - CHF 129,903,16 the co-financing provided by the Ministry of Justice.
