A new round of political consultations between Switzerland and Serbia

On 17 June 2021, Switzerland and Serbia met for political consultations in Belgrade.

Ambassador Anna Ifkovits Horner, Assistant State Secretary and Head of the Eurasia Division at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), led the Swiss delegation, while Ambassador Vladimir Maric, Acting Assistant Minister for Bilateral Cooperation led the Serbian delegation.

The topics of the discussion consisted in the review of bilateral and multilateral affairs and the cooperation between the two countries in several areas of mutual interest.

The Swiss cooperation in Serbia, which marks 30 years of continued presence this year, and its forthcoming strategy 2022-2025 of cooperation were amongst the subjects discussed, as was the support that Switzerland is providing to Serbia’s reform path, in particular in the field of democratic governance.

Regional cooperation, the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, as well as cooperation in the OSCE, the Council of Europe and the United Nations were also discussed. In addition the two delegations exchanged views about current international affairs.

Switzerland and Serbia have excellent bilateral relations, diverse, dynamic and based on mutual trust and friendship.
