Ambassador Schmid congratulated Mr. Martinovic on his appointment as Minister of Public Administration and Local Self Government. Both interlocutors stressed the significance of the excellent bilateral relations between Switzerland and Serbia and the longstanding cooperation in strengthening Local Self Governments and the implementation of the Program for the Reform of the Local Self-Government System. Since more than 30 years Switzerland supports the reform path of Serbia. Under the current Cooperation program 2022 - 2025, economic development and employment, democratic governance and climate change related issues will remain high on the agenda. Minister Martinovic emphasized the priority put by the Serbian Government towards a balanced development across the country as well as the progress achieved in providing digital and one-stop shop services to citizen and businesses, therefore enhancing effectiveness and transparency. Further topics discussed included local financial management, local tax revenues as well as further strengthening human resource capacities for a digitalized administration.
