Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard, Swiss Minister for Infrastructure, Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications, paid an official visit to Singapore on Monday, 6 July 2015. Federal Councillor Leuthard met with her Singaporean counterparts, Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Lui Tuck Yew, Minister for Transport and Mr. S. Iswaran, Minister in Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister for Home Affairs and for Trade and Industry. Federal Councillor Leuthard and her counterparts underlined the excellent bilateral relations between our two countries. They also emphasised the potential of future cooperation in all the fields of environment, transport, energy and trade.On this occasion, Federal Councillor Leuthard visited the Singapore-ETH Centre (SEC) and held a keynote speech at the Create Tower campus on the topic of ICT, Energy and Mobility in which she emphasised the importance to join forces in these fields to move forward.

Swiss Federal Councillor and Foreign Minister Didier Burkhalter participated at the 2015 Shangri-La Dialogue, May 29-31. It was the first time that Switzerland attended officially this important Asia Security Summit. Mr Burkhalter gave an address at the special session themed "Avoiding Military Competition and Arms-Racing in Asia", emphasising the key importance of confidence-building measures and multilateral cooperation to help addressing tensions in Asia.

Ambassador Johannes Matyassy, Assistant State Secretary for Asia/Pacific, visited Singapore on March 27. The purpose of his visit was the regular political dialogue between our two countries. As a representative of the Swiss government, together with Ambassador Kupfer, he also attended the Lying-In-State at the Parliament to pay respect to Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, the Founding Father of Singapore.During his visit, Ambassador Matyassy met with several high ranking officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss questions of mutual interest in the Swiss-Singapore relations. He also visited the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), which is jointly funded by the Asia-Europe-Meeting (ASEM) member countries. Switzerland joined ASEM in 2012 to promote the cooperation between Asia and Europe together with the 50 other ASEM members.Ambassador Matyassy continued his journey to Bangkok, where he represents Switzerland in an ASEM Senior Official Meeting.
