Energy Efficiency Skills Development

Project completed

This proposal forms part of the Energy Efficiency (EE) Building Sector Programme in South Africa that was approved in 2009 with activities in the fields of policy framework, capacity building and implementation of demonstration projects. By focusing on skills development for the implementation and audit of energy efficiency measures in the building sector, the Energy Efficiency Skills Development Systems Project is clearly embedded in the capacity building level, with strong links to the policy framework related to compliance with Energy Efficiency Building Regulations. The overall goal of this project is that South African houses and buildings are built in compliance with best practices of the national standards for energy efficiency and use solar water heaters. To achieve this goal, SDC contribution will be to support the establishment of sustainable skills development and capacity building systems in crucial areas for fostering energy efficiency measures in the building sector.
