The Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SEC) and the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) on 12 July 2017 signed a partnership agreement to the value of USD 900’000 that will assist in the implementation of ATAF’s Strategic Plan in the period 2017 to 2020.
According to Mr Logan Wort, Executive Secretary of ATAF, the organisation appreciates the journey taken with SECO since the very beginning of ATAF – a partnership that will soon celebrates its 10th anniversary. The signing of the agreement is a statement of this good relationship.
Ms Davorka Shepherd, Head of SECO’s Cooperation Office in South Africa, stated that the signing of the agreement marks a new phase of the partnership. Based on the good results that ATAF has achieved through its high quality training and capacity building, technical assistance, research and peer learning, SECO is looking forward to support ATAF’s further development as an expert voice on tax matters.
Over the next four years the programme will focus on the following pillars:
Developing a sustainable, member orientated African organisation on tax matters
Fostering efficient and effective African tax administrations
Driving the knowledge hub on African tax matters
Informing and influencing the regional and global dialogue as the African voice in the field of taxation
