South Sudan Common Humanitarian Fund (CHF) Contribution 2016
The various humanitarian interventions in South Sudan require an excellent donor coordination and justifiable prioritization procedure. The Common Humanitarian Fund (CHF) South Sudan, established in 2012, does not only provide timely and substantial financial provisions for humanitarian projects, it also brings together several important stakeholders involved in the humanitarian response in South Sudan. Contributing to the CHF means to strengthen this mechanism and enable financial support to the most critical interventions. It also ensures the inclusion of SDC in decision making processes and facilitates a coordinated and strengthened advocacy within the international community.

Contesto |
Despite the signing of a peace agreement in August 2015, the political and economic situation in South Sudan has remained fragile and resulted in renewed outbreak of violence in Juba in July 2016, thus further worsening the already dire humanitarian situation and raising fears of a new outbreak of all-out war throughout the country. Since Dec 2013, the conflict has devastated the lives of millions of South Sudanese and displaced more than 2.3 million people. 4.8 million people (well over one third of the population) experience crisis, emergency or catastrophe levels of food insecurity. |

Gruppi target |
The allocation and disbursement of joint donor resources aim at meeting the most critical needs and therefore target the most vulnerable persons. |
