Additional Allocation of SDC Funding (Europe – Middle East Division) in 2024 to ICRC Operations in Lebanon
SDC allocates additional funding to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to address urgent needs arising from the humanitarian impact of escalating violence in Lebanon. This support, drawn from SDC's emergency reserve funds, enables the ICRC to provide immediate protection and life-saving assistance to those affected by the crisis.

| Hintergrund |
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to ensure protection and assistance for victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence. The ICRC is Switzerland’s main humanitarian partner in the field of international humanitarian aid. Lebanon is experiencing its most severe escalation of violence since the 2006 war, following a large-scale Israeli military operation launched in late September 2024. With the Lebanese Red Cross, ICRC works to protect and assist people affected by the violence. |
