Francophone week has started in Dushanbe

Francophone week which has become traditional for Tajikistan has launched in Dushanbe on 3 April 2017. The cultural event is organized by Bactria Cultural Center in collaboration with the Embassy of France and Swiss Cooperation office in Tajikistan and other local partners.

The International Day of Francophonie – the festival for all those speaking and studying the French language is celebrated each year on March 20. 40 years ago on March 20, 1970 the agreement on the establishment of the first intergovernmental organization which unites the French-speaking countries was signed. Nowadays Francophonie unites 47 French-speaking countries all over the world.

This year in Tajikistan a variety of events celebrating the French language and the diversity of French-speaking cultures will be held in both in the Cultural Center "Bactria" and in the symbolic cultural places, like the Lahuti Theater, the Youth Theater, the Pedagogical University and the National University of Tajikistan between 03 and 09 April.  

Moreover, cinema aficionados will be able to watch many movies during the Francophone week.  The goal of this Week is an intercultural and information, rapprochement, evaluation of cultural heritage and mutual enrichment of French-speaking and Tajik cultures.
