The event is an annual celebration of the French-language and cultural diversity in the French-speaking world. This year’s celebration in Tajikistan includes a variety of Covid-adapted cultural events such as virtual tours, online sessions, film screenings and educational exhibits that will take place from the 5th until the 11th of April. For the first time the International Francophonie Days will be conducted in Khujand (in the Sughd region in northern Tajikistan) as well.

Switzerland will screen the film “La femme et le TGV” (English: “The Railroad Lady”) directed by the young film maker Timo von Gunten. This film was awarded seven special prizes, and was inserted in the nominations list for the Oscars in 2017.

During this week, the premiere of the Tajik photographer Farhad Azizov’s work will be presented to the Tajik public.

Switzerland, a multicultural country as Tajikistan has been a member of “La Francophonie” since 1996. The “Francophonie” has four missions: to promote the French language (as well as cultural and linguistic diversity), to promote peace, democracy and human rights, to support education and research, and to expand cooperation for sustainable development.
