The Sino-Swiss Zero Emission Buildings Project Exhibition “Building Type / Climate Zone” presents the achievements of five years of close cooperation between Switzerland and China in the field of sustainable and zero-emission buildings.
Supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and China’s Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD), the Sino-Swiss Zero Emission Buildings Project (ZEB) (2021–2025) aims to address global climate change and promote the low-carbon transformation of the building sector. The exhibition showcases how Swiss expertise in sustainable construction and environmental technologies has been combined with Chinese innovation and design to create practical, forward-looking solutions for zero-emission buildings.
The exhibition is structured in three main sections:
- A visual “experience summary” featuring hundreds of research reports curated by Swiss curators and presented in an infographic style;
- A photographic presentation of eight zero-emission demonstration buildings captured by Swiss architectural photographers;
- A unique artistic installation reproducing China’s oldest architectural treatise Yingzao Fashi (Building Standards) on solar panels using silkscreen printing technology.
Over the past five years, more than 100 experts from over 30 enterprises and universities in both countries have worked together on standard research, demonstration projects, and capacity building. The project has conducted comparative studies of Sino-Swiss building energy and carbon reduction standards, proposed indicators for low-carbon, near-zero and zero-emission buildings adapted to China’s context, and developed around 200,000 square meters of zero-carbon demonstration projects in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Shaoxing.
The exhibition highlights the strong partnership between Switzerland and China in sustainable development and climate action, and offers the public an inspiring insight into how international cooperation can contribute to shaping a zero-emission future.
