The GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH) together with key stakeholders officially launched the Good Financial Governance (GFG) Programme in Dar es Salaam. The GFG is a technical cooperation programme, implemented by GIZ and funded by the European Union (EU), Germany and Switzerland for a time span of four years (2016-2020).

The GFG programme’s objective is to strengthen the public finance system of Tanzania in the realms of accountability and state revenue mobilisation. It works in harmonious cooperation with core partners from the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania – particularly the Ministry of Finance and Planning with the Internal Auditor General`s Division; the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government; and the National Audit Office of Tanzania.

The launch was very well-attended with key partners voicing their appreciation for the cooperation with the GFG Programme, whilst simultaneously highlighting the challenges lying ahead with regards to enhancing accountability structures and state revenue mobilisation processes in the public finance system.
