North Africa Foundation for the Future
Switzerland has supported the Foundation for the Future (FFF) since 2006 – both through Political Division IV and SDC. FFF has established a wide network of contacts with civil society organisations and has established itself as an actor that supports civil society actors with regard to themes that are critical for the democratisation of societies. Switzerland has decided to continue funding FFF with a moderate amount for activities in North Africa – in particular Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia – for the time being until end of 2012. The thematic priorities for FFF-funded projects respond to the domain 1 “democratic transition” of the programme document North Africa (draft). In addition, the Swiss contribution can be leveraged for political influence at the regional meetings of the Forum for the Future.
