The book launch for “Riverbed” authored by Sena Basöz took place at the Swiss Residence in Istanbul. An interesting conversation between the author and the public started with the book’s process in Basel and expanded to Türkiye.
Sena Basöz's Riverbed is composed of interviews performative gestures and installations that she conducted in Basel during her residency and exhibition "Ars Oblivionis" at lostremark Projekte from October 31 to December 12, 2020. Interviewing migrants from Türkiye and anarchivists in Basel, she focuses on what we collect, what we forget, and what we want to preserve. These conversations are set against a fictional end-of-the-world scenario inspired by current catastrophic trends. Using the river as a metaphor for memory in flux, she asks:
"What would remain if the river Rhine stopped flowing?
What would you want to keep?”
