| Background |
Electrified railway networks need section insulators and connecting parts to provide the necessary power to the locomotives and trains. Without sustaibale high quality products, it is not possible to provide a stable and reliable service of public transport and freight transport. In Ukraine, there are only two companies in Ukraine that are licensed to manufacture these products, one of which is a Russian company and the other is Arthur Flury. |
| Objectives |
Arthur Flury AG supplies work packages (section insulator, messenger wire insulator, forked collar sockets for the messenger wire, droppers and saddle clamps) and supports the installation of section insulators for public transport and cargo transport within the Ukrainian railway network. By replacing russian-origin components with Arthur Flury’s products, Ukraine reduces dependency on high-maintenance, low-longevity parts and lowers the total cost of ownership. The Swiss-made systems have already been proven in comparable climates and technical settings, significantly reducing the risk of integration issues. |
| Medium-term outcomes |
The Ukrainian Railways benefits from a reinforced, reliable catenary network supported by the systematic deployment of durable section insulators. The network's performance and reliability will be comparable to that of Swiss or Austrian national systems, resulting in improved operational uptime and reduced maintenance costs. The project also delivers a workforce training component, facilitated by Arthur Flury Ukraine, improving long-term maintenance efficiency. |
| Results |
Expected results: The primary output of the project is the delivery and deployment of overhead catenary components, notably section insulators manufactured in Switzerland. These are to be delivered in semi-annual batches over three years. The outputs also include local workforce training, technical documentation, and coordination with Ukrainian Railways for efficient installation. The materials will be customized to Ukrainian operational needs and integrated into both cargo and passenger corridors. |
