She held bilateral talks with Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Amber Rudd and with Robert Goodwill, Minister of State at the Department of Transport. Discussions with Amber Rudd centred on the implementation of the climate protection agreement adopted in Paris in December 2015. They expressed the shared view that the globally applicable accord sends a strong signal at political and economic levels, and will trigger investments in climate-friendly technologies.

The Federal Councillor opened Cleantech Innovate 2016, at which six Swiss companies were finalists, pitching their products to an audience of investors and industry specialists. In her speech, Federal Councillor Leuthard highlighted the need for more efficient energy use and pointed out that clean technologies could play a decisive role in reducing global CO2 emissions.
