Have you ever wondered what an ambassador’s typical day is like? Where would he advise you to go when visiting Switzerland? Or what does the ambassador think about climate change?

Ambassador of Switzerland to the United States Martin Dahinden took a seat at the Swiss Touch table on the Mall in D.C., and chatted with Washingtonians as well as visitors from around the world.

After crossing the Atlantic earlier this year, the Swiss Touch table arrived in New York City, and was placed on a rooftop with spectacular views of the city’s skyline. Ambassador André Schaller, the Consul General of Switzerland in New York, invited experts around the table for a timely discussion on the impact and future of “Preventing Violent Extremism.” The table then continued its journey southbound.

In late spring 2017, at the crack of dawn, the table arrived on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

Placed along the Reflecting Pool in front of the Lincoln Memorial, the Swiss Touch table appeared as a quite unusual, but intriguing match in design and meaning on the Mall. From deep in the mountains of Switzerland to one of the most iconic places in the United States of America, the Swiss Touch campaign had made its way over the Atlantic to bring the two Sister Republics even closer together and new perspectives on Switzerland and “Swissness” to the U.S.

As the sun came out, so did the people: visiting the Washington Monument and the memorials on the Mall, they passed by the table where Ambassador of Switzerland Martin Dahinden had taken a seat and invited them to join him around the table to talk about Switzerland.
