Water Concept and Water Strategy of Uzbekistan have been adopted - who will implement them?

With these words, Rustam Karshiev, Deputy Minister of Water Resources of Uzbekistan, gave a start to the recently completed 5-day long training.

This training was organized for the faculty of the vocational colleges under the Ministry of Water Resources (MoWR) system. A set of methodological materials and a textbook to pilot teaching of the new  “Water-saving irrigation technologies” course was presented at the event.

This is part of a broader program to support ongoing vocational education reforms in Uzbekistan to build students' knowledge and skills for targeted labor markets.  The longstanding partnership of Switzerland and Uzbekistan will foster establishment of a necessary human capital to achieve the targets of the Water Sector Development Concept 2020-2030 and the recently adopted Water Resources Management and Irrigation Sector Development Strategy the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2021-2023, which were also drafted with the technical assistance of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
