Come rispondere al fabbisogno d’acqua di 68 milioni di abitanti dell’Asia centrale valorizzando al contempo i grandi ghiacciai del Kirghizistan, del Tagikistan, dell’Uzbekistan e del Kazakhstan? Un progetto della DSC promuove una cooperazione regionale su base volontaria e un rigoroso monitoraggio scientifico della trasformazione dei ghiacciai.

Mit dem strategischen Ziel 7 in der Botschaft 2017-2020 bekräftigt die DEZA die Gleichstellung der Geschlechter als Schlüssel für Armutsreduktion und leistet einen Beitrag zur Umsetzung der Genderziele der Agenda 2030. Thematische Prioritäten sind die Geschlechtergleichstellung in fragilen Kontexten sowie die Stärkung der ökonomischen und politischen Partizipation von Frauen. Wichtigste Massnahmen sind ein strategischer Politikdialog, Investition in Wissens-management und Gender Expertise sowie Capacity Building und Qualitätssicherung für verstärkte Wirkungsorientierung.  


Central Asia : Water Accountability in Transboundary Chu and Talas River Basins

Effective water resources management requires data management capacities for proper decision-making at different scales. In this context, a modern, Multi-Level Distributed Water Information Systems is a management instrument that provides stakeholders’ gateways for judicious and sustainable water resources management. The project is aiming at introducing such a modern management information system in transboundary Chu and Talas river basins to improve water accountability and transparency.

Regional Art and Culture Programme in Central Asia

The programme builds on a vision that the strengthened and pluralistic cultural sector contributes to developing and empowering the civil society. The programme aims to protect and to enlarge a social space where democratic values can be expressed and intercultural dialogue happen. lt has the potential to allow marginalised voices to be heard and new or unpopular ideas to be shared.


Contribution to the Cotton Reform Multi-Donors Trust Fund of the World Bank in Uzbekistan

The World Bank led multi-donor trust fund will contribute to a sustainable cotton reform by thoroughly monitoring child and forced labour during cotton harvest, building the capacities of relevant authorities in terms of international standards and legislaion, raising awareness of the population and the stakeholders' groups involved in cotton picking. This will feed into policy dialogue with the Government and eventually eradicate this harmful practice for the rural population.

The fourth Phase of the Skills Development Project (SDP) in Uzbekistan contributes to the improvement and further development of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) system by introducing and strengthening the systemic approach to cooperation among stakeholders in the water sector within the cycle “Demand-Training-Job Placement”. The systemic approach to be followed in this Phase of SDP is going to serve as a blueprint for other sectors of the economy and be replicated accordingly.


Blue Peace Central Asia Strengthening of the Regional Institutional Framework for Integrated Water Resources Management in Central Asia

In response to the explicit demand of the five Central Asian States, and building on over 20 years of cooperation in the field of water, SDC facilitates transboundary water resources cooperation consistent with the Blue Peace approach implemented in the Middle-East and at the global level through the establishment of a High Level Dialogue Platform, the promotion of sustainable water practices as well as capacity building of a new generation of water professionals and champions.

National Water Resources Management in Uzbekistan

01.09.2013 - 31.12.2019

This project aims at supporting the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources in the water management, by strengthening their capacities at local and central levels, by improving the management of water-related data within the country and by supporting the establishment of strategic and legislative framework conditions for the development of the water sector. To improve the prevention of flood-related disasters and the preparedness of the authorities and the population, a pilot project will be carried out on a small river shared by Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Central Asia: Promotion of Interstate Water Management Cooperation on Transboundary Chu and Talas Rivers

Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan have set up Interstate Commission for joint management of water resources in the basins of Chu river and of Talas river. However, a serious challenge for integrated water resources management remains to establish a data management system for which capacities are increasingly depleting. The proposed project will establish a monitoring system for both basins by upgrading the monitoring infrastructure generating real time data and capacities in both basins, thus supporting the Interstate Commission in decision making based on solid analysis and data.

National Water Resources Management in Tajikistan

This project in the north of Tajikistan has been developed upon the request of the Government of Tajikistan to address the transformation of the Tajik Water Management. The project builds on Switzerland’s expertise and long-term presence in the water management in Central Asia. Specifically, the project will strengthen the capacities of the irrigation water providers and the local communities in effective water resource management, in order to support the ongoing Water Sector Reform process. Concurrently, the project will support the rehabilitation of key irrigation infrastructure and reduce the impact of natural disasters to sustain the achievements of the project.

In Uzbekistan, le zone rurali dispongono di poca acqua potabile e molti dei dieci milioni di abitanti del Paese soffrono di malattie provocate dal consumo di acqua inquinata. Un progetto finanziato dalla DSC mira a risolvere questi problemi, aiutando la popolazione ad affrontarli in maniera autonoma. Gli abitanti dei villaggi imparano infatti ad organizzarsi per garantire il proprio approvvigionamento idrico.
