Monitoring and Evaluation in Support of Management in the Agricultural and Rural Development Sector (MESMARD)

Switzerland supports the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) in establishing a system that can effectively monitor and evaluate the outcomes of economic growth and the impact of MA RD’s poverty reduction policies and programmes. This will help MARD to make better use of its limited resources to achieve results and contribute to improving the livelihoods of the 75% of the population living in rural areas whose livelihoods depend on agriculture.

Better Work Phase III

Better Work, a partnership of the International Labour Organization and the International Finance Corporation, improves working conditions and respect for labour rights in the garment industry, as well as productivity and competitiveness of apparel businesses. It provides services at factory level to improve compliance with national and international labour standards, facilitates better buying practices in the sector and works at the policy level to improve overall working conditions in global supply chains.

Multi-Country Investment Climate Program

The Multi-Country Investment Climate Program (MCICP) supports investment climate reform advisory in a total of 20 SECO partner countries. It is implemented by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a globally recognized leader in this field.

Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance (DRFI) Phase II

SECO is partnerning with the World Bank to implement the Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance (DRFI) Program to support primarily SECO priority countries in building their financial resilience to natural disasters. Countries receive technical assistance helping them in their advance planning of financing needs in the case of natural disasters.

Regional Biotrade Project Southeast Asia

The 'Regional Biotrade Project Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Lao PDR, and Myanmar)' proposes to tackle the opportunities and challenges in the three countries of the Indo-Burma biodiversity hotspot by following a country specific market demand oriented approach, along Biotrade value-chains following the ethical Biotrade principles.

Green Building EDGE standard Program

Buildings consume a large share of energy and water resources and are responsible for up to 20% of global CO2 emissions. This program, implemented by the IFC, aims at supporting the construction sector in several SECO priority countries to design greener buildings. By reducing energy and water use of buildings, operational costs for house owners will decrease.

Mekong Urban Flood Proofing and Drainage Program

Implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, the Mekong Urban Flood Proofing and Drainage Program (Vietnam) aims to strengthen national capacities as well as standards and policies in the field of urban resilience, and to increase the resilience to adverse climate change related events of three selected cities.

Can Tho Urban Development and Resilience Project

Co-financed together with the World Bank, the Can Tho Urban Development and Resilience Project aims to increase the resilience of Can Tho City, Vietnam, to adverse climate change related events by proactively addressing the two biggest threats to its socioeconomic development: flooding and uncontrolled urbanization.

Green Transport Development Project, Ho Chi Minh City

Co-financed together with the World Bank, the Green Transport Development Project aims to improve the performance and efficiency of public transport in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, by developing a Bus Rapid Transit System (BRT), as well as to promote the integration of public transport with urban development.

The Urban Climate Change Resilience Trust Fund (UCCRTF) managed by the Asian Development Bank supports city-level efforts to address intensifying climate change risks. It entails support to climate risk analysis and planning as well as technical assistance and targeted investment grants, with a focus on secondary cities.
