CABI Plantwise 2011 - 2016

Projekt abgeschlossen

To meet the objective of sustainable resettlement in their place of origin, people must graduate from temporary and transitional shelter into a state of permanence. In terms of a holistic approach, additional measures will be essential as housing is not enough to build sustainable communities. While EC funds may be used for permanent housing exclusively, SDC maintains its strong commitment to work with a comprehensive approach and to seek out other partner organizations to ensure, in close participation with the beneficiary communities, a holistic rehabilitation that will guarantee sustainability. SDC plans to directly support these areas with flanking measures such as vocational training activities, small enterprise development projects (block yards, doors and window frame factory) and CBO-based reconstruction of small public infrastructure (e.g. community halls, market place) that represent an essential component to reach the long term goal of fully sustainable communities.
