Activities

Through an evaluation assessment and review of procedures, RIO staff will gain improved policies and capacities in asylum procedures through two trainings (see logframe for details). The project will increase knowledge and implementation of skills,
techniques and best practice used by RIO to address the asylum seeker process in Romania. To ensure reaching EU standards and obligations towards asylum seekers as Romania gains Schengen
accession, the project will also improve the accommodation capacity and facilities of two Regional Reception Centres.

Results

Achieved results:

  • 32 GII officials were trained on Asylum registration, early identification of Dublin cases and Reception Centre management
  • Installation of 27 PC with internet access at the Regional Reception Centre (RRC) Giurgiu, as well as surveillance system and document issuing equipment, improving reception centre facilities at RRC Giurgiu
  • Increased number of asylum applications processed (7 per day)
  • Increased RRC transferral rate: 25 persons/month, reflecting an effective management of ‘overflow’ and crisis situations within RRC
  • Renovation of RRC Radauti and Giurgiu
