2026 Additional Allocation to UNHCR Operations in Lebanon and Syria
To contribute to the emergency response to the consequences of the escalation of violence in Lebanon since late February 2026 and its consequences in Syria, Switzerland provides an additional CHF 1’500’000 to its existing contribution to UNHCR to provide immediate protection and relief assistance to vulnerable groups affected by the conflict, in particular displaced populations.

| Background | The region is experiencing an unprecedented escalation of violence with significant humanitarian consequences. The intensification of the conflict in Lebanon has resulted in acute protection concerns and a rapid increase in numbers of displacements. Since the beginning of March, approximatly 815,000 newly internally displaced persons and 86,000 cross-border arrivals into Syria have been recorded. The majority of displaced persons are experiencing urgent humanitarian needs. |
