The NGO Forum in South Sudan provides a platform on which NGOs, the UN, donors, and other stakeholders exchange information, share expertise and establish policies for efficient and effective use of resources. Switzerland supports the Forum with a multi-year contribution to amplify NGOs voices and to advocate for safe access, protection of aid workers, promote localization, coordinate aid and foster an enabling environment for development, peace and humanitarian operations.

| Background | The environment in South Sudan remains highly fragile, with NGOs responding to a multifaceted humanitarian crisis driven by escalating conflict, widespread displacement, shrinking humanitarian and development funding and fragmented coordination mechanisms. Aid actors face widespread access constraints, bureaucratic impediments, and a restrictive operating environment that continue to limit the delivery of assistance to vulnerable populations. In this context, the South Sudan NGO Forum plays a critical role in strengthening the institutional and operational capacities of NGOs while serving as their collective voice in Humanitarian, Development and Peace coordination and policy Forums. |

Expected results: • Collective NGO positions and advocacy messages produced and used. • Structured access and NGO safety escalation mechanism operationalized. • National NGO organizational sustainability, functional tools, peer support, internships and leadership pathways supported and strengthened. • Strategic information products and two-way fieldnational feedback systems support decisionmaking, influence and operational follow-up strengthened. • Participation and representation of NGOs in aid coordination Results from previous phases: - The Forum supported 243 national and 110 international NGOs (2025 membership data) that serves and facilitated humanitarian and development needs in South Sudan. - The Forum strengthened its focus on information sharing, advocacy for NGOs, networking, representation and communication around safety and wellbeing of humanitarians. -Established localization working group within the Forum which advocated for an increased funding allocation to local NGOs from SSHF(UN countrybased pool fund). - The Forum managed to recruit 201 interns and placed them in 70 organization with 30 retained on employment. - Membership satisfaction survey indicates that 50% of the respondents are very satisfied and 41% are moderately satisfied with the Forums work. - Overall, the services provided by the NGO Forum were evaluated as responsive to the needs and concerns of NGOs. The NGO survey results corroborated SCO own survey based on the last SDC contribution whose results indicates that 89% of the partners shows that the services & products of the Forum are very useful and needed. |
