The SDC will use the exhibition “The Journey to Tunisia” as an opportunity to discuss the cultural and knowledge exchanges that exist today between Switzerland and Tunisia. In the "More than a Journey" events, Tunisian and Swiss people engaged in the cultural sector show how migrants influence exchanges between the two countries.
The three events, organized by the SDC, will take place in the Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern. Admission to these events is free.
- Sea of hope – sea of fate: media, perception and migration
Thursday, 10 April 2014, 18:00 (in French and German).
The documentary film "460" (Tunisia, 2013) tells the story of a young Tunisian migrant who is lost at sea, and how his family is affected. After the screening, film director Abdellatif Garrouri will discuss with media professionals the depiction of migration in the media and its perception by society at large.
Free entrance to the "Journey to Tunisia" exhibition between 17:00 and 18:00.
- Literary Tunisia: language as a mirror of change and mobility

Reading by Amor Ben Hamida and Jonas Lüscher
The two writers discuss how language reflects and influences social change and migration. Amor Ben Hamida embarks on a literary exploration of his Tunisian origins and of Switzerland, where he has long resided. Tunisia is the setting of "Frühling der Barbaren" (Spring of the barbarians, 2013), Swiss writer Jonas Lüscher's first novel.

Panel discussion with Tunisian-Swiss academics and entrepreneurs
The panel discussion will focus on the influence of migrants on their own and other people's perceptions in Switzerland and Tunisia. The panellists will offer their perspective on the role played by women and Islam in the Arab Spring. The panel will include Sarra Ganouchi, founder of the textile company Fouta.
Free admission to the "Journey to Tunisia" exhibition between 17:00 and 18:00.
