To mark this year's International Women's Day on 8 March, the FDFA and SDC are organising a panel discussion on gender equality.

16:00-17:30 in the Berner GenerationenHaus in the former Burgerspital, Bern

Twenty years ago, at the 1995 World Conference on Women in Beijing, the Platform for Action on gender equality was adopted. In September of this year, 2015, the international community will also adopt the new agenda for sustainable development.

To mark this year's International Women's Day on 8 March, the FDFA and SDC are organising a panel discussion on gender equality in the Berner GenerationenHaus in the former Burgerspital, Bern. The following panellists will take stock of the progress made in the field of gender equality and discuss the challenges that lie ahead:

  • Ruth Dreifuss, former Federal Councillor and Head of Delegation at the 1995 World Conference on Women in Beijing
  • Maya Tissafi, SDC, Deputy Director-General and Head of South Cooperation Department
  • Matthias Aebischer, Swiss Social Democratic Party Bern, National Councillor
  • Maja Loncarevic, Iamaneh Schweiz, Programme Manager for the Western Balkans

Moderator: Ursula Keller, SDC, Senior Gender Policy Advisor
