| Background | The Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC) was established in 2011 as a multi-stakeholder platform to support the creation of innovative and inclusive partnerships based on four development effectiveness principles, which are regularly monitored. It includes 161 recipient, as well as donor countries, multilateral organizations, CSOs and private sector representatives. The different stakeholders are represented in the governance structure of the GPEDC. Its secretariat is run by and affiliated to both the UN System (UNDP) and the OECD-DAC. The GPEDC works specifically towards the realization of SDG 16 (effective, accountable and inclusive institutions) and SDG 17 (global partnership for sustainable development), which in turn are linchpin requirements for the realization of all other SDGs. The review of its work was held at the High-Level Meeting in Nairobi in 2016 and at the Senior Level Meeting in New York 2019. The new work program 2019-2021 will led up to the next HLM in 2022. | |||
