Donor Committee for Enterprise Development (DCED) – Membership Contribution
DCED aims at being the independent and respected point of referenced for standards, knowledge and data on the role of the private sector in development. It also advocates globally the importance of the topic. This influences the development sector regarding the quality and quantity of programmes in private sector develop¬ment. SDC is supporting the DCED in its various activities to achieve their objectives since the early 80ies and has been especially involved regarding the development and application of the Results Measurement Standard.

Private sector development (PSD) is a powerful tool to create more equitable and more inclusive employment and income opportunities. Many development actors recognise the contribution of this approach to poverty reduction. Hence, it is crucial to share information on practical experience, lessons learnt, best practices and research. DCED members develop and set common standards in PSD, i.e. Results Measurement. |

The overall goal of DCED raises donors’ impact on poverty reduction and to overcome beneficiaries’ dependency on aid via influencing the quality and quantity of private sector development programmes. |

DCED activities will directly affect the development actors and indirectly low-income households in developing countries through private sector development interventions. |

DCED increases globally the importance of PSD in poverty reduction with multi- and bilateral institutions and other stakeholders. Furthermore, DCED is widely recognised as the leading source of information/knowledge and guidance on PSD. |
