| Contexto |
Financing of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME's) in Sub Saharan Africa is hampered by the high cost of capital, the non-availability of medium-term financing options, and the lack of diversification of financial products. Leasing is a medium-term financial instrument for the procurement of machinery, equipment, vehicles and properties. Leasing is based on the proposition that income is earned through the use of assets, rather than from their ownership. It focuses on the lessee's ability to generate cash flow from their business operations to service the lease payment, rather than on the balance sheet or on past credit history. |
| Objetivos |
The objective of the Africa Leasing Facility II is to facilitate increased access to finance for MSME's in Sub-Saharan Africa by developing a sustainable leasing industry with a view on Fragile and Conflict Affected States. Leasing will be developed as a financial product for the private sector. Thanks to an increased access to capital, more MSME's are in a position to finance equipment needed to do their business. Thanks to (improved) equipment, they will be in a position to perform better. More and better performing MSME's will ultimately lead to an increase in the number of jobs. |
