La acción de la COSUDE en el área de la salud

La acción de la COSUDE en el área de la salud se centra en tres temas: el refuerzo  de los sistemas de salud, la lucha contra las enfermedades  transmisibles y no transmisibles y la mejora de la salud sexual, reproductiva, materna, neonatal e infantil. La COSUDE interviene en países de ingresos  bajos y medios, en contextos estables o frágiles así como en economías en transición.

Fortalecimiento de los sistemas de salud

Reforzar los sistemas de salud para una cobertura sanitaria universal; promover la buena gobernanza y la protección social.

Salud sexual y reproductiva

Mejorar la salud de las madres, de los recién nacidos y de los niños, y promover una vida sexual y reproductiva y los derechos conectados.

Enfermedades

Adoptar estrategias sanitarias de prevención y diagnóstico, y fomentar el tratamiento de las enfermedades no transmisibles; apoyar financieramente la prevención, el tratamiento y la investigación de nuevos medicamentos e instrumentos de diagnóstico.

Fondation Kantha Bopha – Dr med. Beat Richner

01.01.2023 - 31.12.2027

Switzerland has supported the Kanta Bopha Hospitals since 1995. Today they have become of systemic importance in the Cambodian health system, and provide comprehensive pediatric services to 8 out of 10 severely sick children in Cambodia. In this last phase, Switzerland will support the Hospitals setting up a system to sustainably access health care reimbursements through social health insurance. In parallel the core financial contribution is phased out.


2023 Annual Allocation to WFP Country Strategic Plans - Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Nigeria

Against historic levels of food security due to conflicts, climate change and COVID-19, Switzerland supports annually in 28 SDC priority countries operations of the World Food Programme (WFP) to provide humanitarian and development assistance. It funds indistinctively Country Strategic Plans, incorporating all WFP programmes or projects, based on affected population needs and potential synergies with other local partners, especially national governments and civil society.


International Planned Parenthood Federation

Globally, 25% of women of reproductive age have an unmet need for modern contraception. The International Planned Parenthood Federation provides sexual and reproductive health services in over 145 countries, advocates for sexual and reproductive rights, and contributes to shape context-specific policy solutions that mainly benefit the poor and vulnerable. SDC’s support covers priority issues addressing the remaining gaps such as providing services in humanitarian or conflict-affected contexts.


GAIN - Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition

Climate change, Covid-19, conflicts are reversing progress on malnutrition, underlining the growing urgency to transform food systems to tackle human development and planetary needs. Switzerland supports GAIN’s activities with governments, businesses, civil society and partners to ensure consistent access to affordable, safe, nutritious and sustainable food for healthier diets, in particular for the most vulnerable, through more inclusive policies and regulations, effective markets and innovative financing.


Strengthening Nursing in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The health system of BiH is expensive and providing poor quality services, partly due to underutilised potential of nurses. With the support of the project, the health authorities will reform the profession of nurses by aligning nursing practice to quality standards, improving their capacities, expanding their tasks and stimulating homebased care and health education. This will enhance the coverage, quality and cost-effectiveness of health services thereby improving the health status of men and women in BiH. 


Strengthening national capacities to address radio-nuclear threats in Moldova

Moldovan health service providers will be equipped and trained to manage and monitor possible radioactive contamination in Moldova caused by nuclear emergencies in Ukraine. By increasing the national capacity to protect the health professionals from exposure of radio-nuclear emissions, Switzerland contributes to the strengthened preparedness to enhance resilient and responsive health system in Moldova that is able to deal with increased threats caused by the conflict in Ukraine.


Contribución al Programa mediCuba-Suiza

La Fase III del Programa mCS en Cuba contribuye al fortalecimiento de los servicios públicos de salud, afrontando las secuelas de la Covid-19 en sectores de la población más vulnerables a sus efectos a medio y largo plazo. Lo hace fortaleciendo las capacidades del Ministerio de Salud publico (MINSAP) con materiales, capacitación y equipamiento indispensable; así como aumentando las capacidades de la industria nacional para la producción local de medicamentos, disminuyendo así gastos de importaciones.


SRC: Emergency assistance to IDP - Winterization

In expectation of the winter in Ukraine, the Swiss Red Cross in collaboration with the Ukrainian Red Cross Society improve living conditions in collective centers and host community facilities, and provide durable accommodation solutions for Internal Displaced Persons through winterization measures in Ternopil and Ivano Frankivsk Oblast. 


Phase 1 Solidarit'Eau Suisse 2022-2027

Access to safe water and sanitation affordable for all by 2030 according to the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 is substantially off track. The so-called SDG 6 Acceleration Framework adopted in 2020 by the UN, calls for fast results through increased efforts at all levels and by all relevant actors. Solidarit’Eau Suisse helps in mobilizing support from Swiss municipalities and other water-related public actors to implement Swiss projects in the water sector of the Global South.


Effective management and prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases

Kyrgyzstan faces an increasing prevalence of non-communicable diseases and there are significant gaps in the health system to manage them. The Primary Health Care system should deliver equitable care and prevent hospitalizations with non-communicable diseases’ complications. The project contributes to Improve health and quality of life of the rural population through replicating the model of primary health care strengthening and promoting healthy behaviour among people in southern regions and two big cities.

Switzerland plays a critical role in moving the agenda for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and fighting all forms of malnutrition forward in low- and middle-income countries and at global level. NCDs constitute a major global health challenge with critical economic consequences. Unhealthy diets and physical inactivity are the main causes of obesity and NCDs. Switzerland aims at strengthening individual and institutional capacity and enabling environments for legal and regulatory measures to promote healthy diets and physical activity.


Potable Water Management Programme (PWMP) in Upper Egypt Phase 2

01.05.2022 - 31.12.2025

Egypt has critical needs in better managing water resources and reducing water losses as well as consumption, especially in Upper Egypt (climate change impact, lack of infrastructure, high poverty level). Switzerland provides innovative solutions for improved potable water management and service provision to the vulnerable population. The mixed approach based on strengthening capacities of the water company, improving the infrastructure for potable water provision and on engaging the communities will serve as model for nationwide replication.
