UNICEF – Development of WASH facilities and services in childfriendly schools in Abkhazia, Georgia

The sanitation service level of Abkhazian schools ranks among the lowest of any region globally. This project contributes to the well-being of schoolchildren in Abkhazia by improving the sanitary and hygiene conditions in over a third of all Abkhazian schools.

South Sudan UNDP Reconciliation, Stabilization and Resilience Trust Fund (RSRTF)

The proposed support will contribute to sustainable peace, promote good governance and the rule of law, and create inclusive, just and self-sufficient communities. This will be ensured by jointly pursuing interventions along three thematic areas of Reconciliation, Stabilisation and Resilience through a combination of peacebuilding, protection and livelihood interventions. The fund will specifically focus on fragile and highly volatile areas in South Sudan.

WFP Cyclone Batsirai Emergency Response

In line with the Good Humanitarian Donorship (GHD) principles, Switzerland recognizes the necessity of predictable and flexible funding to respond to changing needs in humanitarian crises. SDC funding to the World Food Programme (WFP) operations allows WFP to respond proactively and to provide immediate food assistance in life-threatening situations. This additional contribution supports WFP’s emergency response to the harm and disaster caused by cyclone Batsirai in eastern Madagascar.

OCHA's mission is to coordinate the global emergency response, to save lives and protect people in humanitarian crises. OCHA advocates for effective and principled humanitarian action by all, for all, in partnership with national and international actors in order to alleviate human suffering in sudden-onset disasters and protracted crises. It is responsible for bringing together humanitarian actors to ensure a coherent and timely response to emergencies. Therefore, SDC seeks to provide support to OCHA field and regional offices in relevant humanitarian contexts, in line with SDC geographic and thematic priorities.
