Emergency water supply, sanitation and hygiene in the Mare Abajo IDP camp

Output 1: Target populations have equitable access to a sufficient quantity and quality of safe drinking water (SPHERE Standards).

Output 2: Target populations have access to safe, gender-segregated, and culturally appropriate sanitation facilities.

Output 3: Affected populations have access to hygiene facilities and items and practice safe hygiene behaviors.

Output 4: Target populations live in a clean, hazard-free environment with functional waste disposal systems.

Principaux résultats antérieurs:   Following the departure of the Swiss Rescue Chain, a multidisciplinary Swiss Expert Team (SET) remained to implement immediate response activities and assess priority humanitarian needs. WASH was initially identified as a critical priority by UN OCHA and confirmed through SET assessments, community consultations, and coordination with authorities and humanitarian partners. The Mare Abajo camp, one of the largest IDP sites, was found to be significantly underserved, with urgent needs for safe water, sanitation, and hygiene services. Based on the identified gaps and the priorities expressed by the affected community and camp authorities, this intervention was developed with Action Against Hunger (ACH) to provide safe, inclusive WASH services.
