Contesto

In 2016, as a result of eroded savings, increased costs of living, and UNHCR funding cuts, 95% of registered refugees in Egypt are not able to meet their basic needs. Refugees continue to face difficulties on integrating on the socio-economic level. This has led to many migrants and refugees often resorting to engagement in the informal sector mainly through operating small-scale businesses; with women preferring home-based businesses to avoid harassment at work or on the streets. The project aims to provide refugees and other vulnerable migrant groups with psychosocial support, entrepreneurship training and access to an online recruitment plan to facilitate their access to the labor market, improve their living conditions and enhance their self-resilience.

Obiettivi

The project aims to enable 1700 vulnerable refugees and migrants to improve their living conditions in Egypt, access psychosocial support, and acquire a set of skills for socio-economic cohesion with their host communities. It also aims to increase the capacities of 500 of the aforementioned beneficiaries to integrate into the local socio-economic environment. This is through provision of career counselling as well as increased employability and facilitation of access to the labour market.
