Réseau des entrepreneurs solidaires - Food Aid Swiss Dairy Products (Madagascar)

Through the usage of food aid in the form of Swiss dairy products, Swiss Humanitarian Aid contributes to the prevention and treatment of malnutrition, undernourishment, and disease. The SDC’s Humanitarian Aid administers the credit granted by parliament for a yearly amount of some CHF 20 million destined for the purchase of Swiss dairy products and their use for the benefit of the needy. Its task is to ensure a sustainable, targeted, and closely monitored food aid.

Madagascar figure, en matière d'accès à l'eau potable et à l'assainissement, parmi les pays les moins avancés du monde. Les maladies liées à une mauvaise système d'assainissement et d'hygiène ou à l'eau non-potable constituent la deuxième cause de morbidité. Le projet, basé sur les expériences d'une première phase, offrira à 118'000 personnes un accès sécurisé à de l'eau potable et à 12'000 personnes un accès à des latrines surelevées, le tout accompagné d'actions de promotion à l'hygiène.

In line with the Good Humanitarian Donorship (GHD) principles, Switzerland recognizes the necessity of predictable and flexible funding to respond to changing needs in humanitarian crises. SDC funding to WFP operations allows the World Food Programme (WFP) to respond proactively and to provide immediate food assistance in life-threatening situations and underfunded emergencies.

Prévention de la sous-nutrition

La population du sud-ouest de Madagascar connait un taux de pauvreté de 94%, et 65% des ménages vivent en inscurité alimentaire. Ils sont exposés aux menaces récurrentes de sécheresse et d‘invasions acridiennes. Le projet contribue à la prévention de la sous-nutrition chez les enfants de moins de 5 ans en agissant sur ses causes structurelles et conjoncturelles dans 5 communes du district de Betioky Atsimo.

Développement rural (MATOY)

Ce programme vise la relance économique de trois régions significatives du Madagascar (Amoron’I Mania, Menabe et Vakinankaratra, en tout 1.5 mio d’habitants) sur la base d’une valorisation des meilleurs résultats obtenus jusqu’ici par la DDC à Madagascar. Il intervient dans trois domaines majeurs et interdépendants : la sécurité foncière, les capacités d’investissement des communes et l’économie privée autour de chaînes de valeur spécifiques. Il est exécuté par un Consortium composé de HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation et les ONGs malgaches SAHA et AIM.
