Programme contribution to Caritas 2019-2020

Founded in 1901 as a catholic organisation, Caritas Switzerland (CACH) prevents, alleviates and combats poverty, while working across sectors and focusing on food security, access to clean and safe water, climate protection and disaster prevention, migration and education for children and adults. With its international programme that combines humanitarian work and development, CACH reaches out to 30 countries in Africa, Latin America and Asia as well as in Eastern Europe.


Program Contribution to Brücke – Le Pont 2019 - 2020

Brücke-Le pont is an independent organization established by Travail.Suisse and the Catholic workers' movement (KAB). It has a strong support base in Switzerland and more than 60 years of experience in development cooperation in the South. Its program "Decent Work” includes some 30 projects in Togo, Benin, Salvador, Honduras, Brazil and Bolivia. The programme improves lives of disadvantaged people through vocational trainings, improved access to the labour market, income generation and improved respect of labour rights.

Contribution de programme au Centre Ecologique Albert Schweizer (CEAS) 2019-2020

CEAS contribue à l’amélioration des conditions de vie par une démarche participative de création des solutions (technique et méthodologique) au service du développement. Pour ce faire, l’ONG met notamment en application le travail d’instituts suisses de recherche (Universités et Hautes Ecoles Supérieurs) et des partenaires locaux. Sa stratégie s’articule autour de: L’accès aux énergies renouvelables pour tous, l’assainissement des déchets, la transformation agroalimentaire et la sensibilisation.

L’ONG suisse Enfants du Monde (EdM) mène des initiatives participatives visant à améliorer la qualité de l’éducation de base et la dimension communautaire de la santé maternelle et infantile. S’inscrivant dans les poli-tiques publiques, EdM travaille sur la base d’approches développées avec ses partenaires locaux. Elles sont adaptées aux réalités sociales, culturelles, organisationnelles, politiques et économiques des pays d’intervention d’EdM en Afrique de l’Ouest, en Amérique latine et Haïti, ainsi qu’au Bangladesh.

Fastenopfer (FO) is a Swiss Catholic relief organization established in Luzern in 1961. It supports disadvantaged people and communities of all confessions aiming at overcoming hunger and poverty in partnership with organisations in 14 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America as well as with partners in Switzerland. FO promotes socio- cultural and economic transformation towards sustainable development and is especially engaged in the areas of food security, sustainable economy and gender equality.

The Global Compact Network Switzerland (GCNS) offers a unique opportunity for the SDC to engage and partner with the highly internationalized Swiss private sector to address corporate responsibility challenges and to contribute to a wider business movement for sustainable development.


She Leads – Women Leadership Programme

Federalism has created a historic opportunity for some 14’000 Nepalese women, over half of them from socially discriminated groups, to serve for the first time as elected representatives at local level. However, most elected women at local level remain excluded from political decision making due to discrimination based on patriarchal norms and values, and lack of resources and networks. The project promotes women leadership to support the peace process and to prevent future conflicts.

SDC funding to ICRC operations allows the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to respond proactively and to provide immediate protection and assistance for people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence.


Relief International: Providing educational opportunities for Syrian refugees in Za’atari and Azraq camps

SDC’s contribution will help to maintain essential education services provided by Relief International (RI) for Syrian refugee children and youth in Za’atari and Azraq camps especially after the drastic funding cuts announced by UNICEF in June 2018. The project contributes to retain school-aged refugee children in the formal education system by providing support through: 1) Remedial Education services for in-school children with learning difficulties and 2) the certified drop-out programme for out-of-school children who can only go back to school if they complete the programme.
