Contesto

As a consequence of a late prioritization of public transport, cities in many low and middle income countries face growing traffic congestion, pollution and accident rates. They struggle to make their transport systems accessible to all users, and particularly to poorer households. Moreover, the transport sector has emerged as the fastest growing source of greenhouse gas emissions. Appropriate transport policies and investments hold the potential to enhance inclusive access, reduce the impact of transport on pollution and habitats, and help put economies on a low-carbon path.
