L'azione della DSC nel campo della salute

L’azione della DSC nel campo della salute mette in primo piano tre aspetti: il rafforzamento dei sistemi sanitari, la lotta contro le malattie trasmissibili e non trasmissibili e il miglioramento della salute sessuale, riproduttiva, materna, neonatale e infantile. La DSC interviene in Paesi a reddito basso e medio, in contesti stabili o fragili, e in economie in transizione.

Rafforzamento dei sistemi sanitari

Le grandi sfide sono soprattutto la mancanza di personale sanitario, di finanziamenti, di buongoverno e capacità di gestione, la scarsa disponibilità e qualità di infrastruttura, tecnologia e prodotti medici adeguati.

Salute sessuale e riproduttiva

Migliorare la salute delle madri, dei neonati e dei bambini e promuovere una vita sessuale e riproduttiva soddisfacente e senza rischi.

Malattie

Mettere in atto strategie per la promozione di uno stile di vita sano, la prevenzione, la diagnosi e il trattamento delle malattie non trasmissibili; sostenere la prevenzione, il trattamento e la ricerca di nuovi farmaci e strumenti diagnostici contro le malattie tropicali trascurate, la malaria, la tubercolosi, l’AIDS, la diarrea e i disturbi respiratori acuti.

Emergency support to IRC integrating GBV services, Protection and Health for conflict-affected communities in Rakhine State, Myanmar

This project will allow IRC to provide protection, GBV and health services to respond to identified urgent needs of conflict-affected communities in Rathedaung in Rakhine State, Myanmar, through a 7 months integrated protection, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and health response. Both, Muslim and Rakhine communities will benefit from the outcomes of this project.



KENYA - Strengthening Livestock Sector in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) Counties

Around 60% of the population of Northern/Eastern Kenya counties are poor. They depend on livestock production in an environment of recurrent droughts and resource-based conflicts. This program will support local entities to better support pastoralist communities in livestock production and to advocate for their consideration in national strategies and policies. This will contribute to the reduction of their socio-economic marginalisation and thus to the region’s stability, which is in the Swiss and international community’s interest.


Lugano Summer School

The Lugano Summer School in Public Health Policy, Economics and Management is an international hub for post-graduate short-term training and learning in public health bringing together practitioners and academics from around the world. Its innovative and interactive methods for teaching and exchanging enhance health professionals’ capacities to manage, develop and promote health services and systems and to contribute to achieving the SDG3.


Supporting the Medical Education Reform in Ukraine

A profound health reform is underway in Ukraine. The currently ill-prepared medical education system is a fundamental component of it. Training curricula are outdated and teaching staff lack essentials skills, capacities and motivation. This project supports the reform of the medical education system for family doctors and nurses, and the strengthening of competencies of healthcare managers. As a result, significant quality improvements of health care delivered to the population are expected.


Medical Education Reforms in Kyrgyzstan

Although health sector reforms have prioritised family medicine, the medical education system continues to prepare narrow specialists, leading to a shortage of family doctors mainly in rural areas. The Ministry of Health initiated the medical education reforms with focus on family doctors specialty at pregraduate level and compulsory postgraduate clinical practice in the regions. Phase II of the project will finalize the medical education reform implementation process with focus on postgraduate and continuous medical education.


Emergency response to address malnutrition through improved nutrition, mental health and care practices in Maungdaw District, Rakhine State

The violence that took place on October 9 2016, and the ensuing insecurity across Northern Rakhine State (NRS), resulted in the suspension of humanitarian services in the area. Many of the affected people missed out on their seasonal food assistance, school feeding and regular nutrition support for at least three months, resulting in a significant negative impact on the food security, health and nutritional status, and mental health of vulnerable families. With this emergency response, Action Contre la Faim (ACF) will address increased malnutrition through an integrated program, which aims to reduce child and Pregnant and Lactating Women (PLW) undernutrition, mortality and morbidity.


Health Promotion Cabo Delgado

Switzerland contributed to health promotion in Cabo Delgado Province in Northern Mozambique by supporting the retention of health promotion workers, strengthening community involvement and the public finance management. Phase 2 of the project builds up on this and newly address Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in order to improve access and quality in the provision of health and WASH services targeting the 23 rural health posts in  three districts of the Province that are serving a total population of 570’000 people.

La metà degli 8,5 milioni di abitanti del Tagikistan, il paese più povero dell’Asia centrale, non ha accesso all’acqua potabile enelle aree montane e rurali il dato è del 80%. Una situazione che implica un rischio molto elevato per la salute pubblica. Il progetto della DSC «Safe Drinking Water and Sanitation Management in Tajikistan (SWSMT)» si concentra sull’accesso all’acqua potabile e alle reti idrico-fognarie nel Tagikistan orientale.

Fairmed - Food Aid Swiss Dairy Products (Cameroon)

Through the usage of food aid in the form of Swiss dairy products, Swiss Humanitarian Aid contributes to the prevention and treatment of malnutrition, undernourishment, and disease. The SDC’s Humanitarian Aid administers the credit granted by parliament for a yearly amount of some CHF 20 million destined for the purchase of Swiss dairy products and their use for the benefit of the needy. Its task is to ensure a sustainable, targeted, and closely monitored food aid.
