Nel mondo le donne hanno scarse possibilità di influenzare le decisioni politiche, economiche, sociali e domestiche. La DSC si adopera affinché donne e uomini possano onorare con pari diritti i loro doveri di cittadine e cittadini e promuove la partecipazione delle donne alla vita politica.

Obiettivi principali della DSC

La DSC integra sistematicamente le questioni di genere nei suoi progetti di sviluppo della governance e, su scala locale e nazionale, promuove la partecipazione delle donne alla vita politica, per esempio nel quadro dei processi di democratizzazione.

Confrontato a un’urbanizzazione sfrenata, l’Afghanistan ha visto il suo tasso di criminalità aumentare drasticamente. In otto grandi città del Paese i cittadini aiutano a valutare le sfide riguardanti la sicurezza e mettono in atto misure collettive. In questo processo sostenuto dalla DSC la partecipazione attiva delle donne è prioritaria.

Nel Benin la DSC sostiene le donne che si offrono di rivestire cariche politiche o assumere posizioni in altri organi decisionali come i comitati locali in ambito sanitario e per la gestione delle risorse idriche.

L’integrazione delle questioni di genere è un obiettivo prioritario anche nello sviluppo dei Comuni nei Balcani occidentali. Attraverso i suoi progetti la DSC promuove la facoltà di codecisione delle donne nella pianificazione del budget e nella ripartizione delle risorse finanziarie, accordando uguale considerazione alle esigenze e agli interessi di uomini e donne, bambini e bambine.     

Contesto

Il potere delle donne di influenzare le decisioni politiche ed economiche è ancor oggi scarso rispetto a quello degli uomini. I pregiudizi sociali persistenti, la mancanza di tempo e la scarsa istruzione impediscono alle donne di partecipare alla vita politica al pari degli uomini. 

Oltre a un’adeguata rappresentanza femminile negli organi decisionali è fondamentale che la loro attività politica sia attenta alle questioni di genere. Per la DSC è necessario coinvolgere tutte le fasce della popolazione nei processi locali di decentralizzazione e di sviluppo della governance locale. Parallelamente andrebbero analizzate le conseguenze delle decisioni politiche e di bilancio su uomini, donne, bambini e minoranze.

Grassroots women building resilience and peace in Central America.

The project enables two thousand grassroots women and their families to implement effective climate adaptation practices and strengthen their voice and leadership to influence related public plans and policies. The exchange of good local practices will be fostered among women in the region, thus increasing their resilience to climate change and variability.


UN-Gender Rwanda

In line with SDC’s engagement on fighting sexual and gender-based violence and women’s empowerment in the Great Lakes region, the UN-Gender Program will contribute to the efforts of the Government of Rwanda and the UN Agencies in Rwanda to transform commitments to gender equality and women’s empowerment into concrete actions, in particular through awareness raising and capacity building for women and strengthening service providers.


IGAD Land Governance Programme

Land is a source for livelihoods and a valuable economic asset in the IGAD region. Drawing on experiences from other land related partnerships at national, regional and global levels, Switzerland supports the Intergovernmental Authority on Development IGAD to translate continental and global land governance frameworks and guidelines into practice in order to improve access to land and tenure security for all, especially for vulnerable groups like pastoralists, women and youth.


Improvement of the local self-governance system Armenia

Switzerland continues to support the national reform on territorial consolidation and decentralization which has been strongly confirmed by the new Government. On one hand, necessary framework conditions will be developed to finalize the amalgamation process. On the other hand, the municipalities will be capacitated to provide efficient and quality administrative services to their citizens and to incentivize local development. Citizen participation will be emphasized to render local authorities more accountable and local development more inclusive.


Women Deliver Conference and Advocacy

Women Deliver advocates for gender equality as well as sexual and reproductive health and rights, including through the Women Deliver Conference. Investment cases and concrete solutions developed by Women Deliver and partners are used by a diversity of global actors such as the UN, governments including Switzerland, civil society and private sector. Their evidence-based advocacy contributes to the global movement for gender equality.


CDNH: Conflict prevention Rakhine

After the events in Rakhine in August 2017, violence and communal tensions are still prevailing and mistrust has increased among and between communities, state and village officials and security authorities. The need to gather the stakeholders around conflict prevention, livelihood skills enhancement, conflict analysis and gender and civic education is repeatedly expressed by all. This project helps to improve the relationship between the main key actors in and around Rakhine to lower the potential of further tensions, abuses and install trust-building mechanisms.


Reducing the Prevalence and Impact of Violence in Western Equatoria

Nonviolent Peaceforce’s (NP) intervention in Mundri County, Western Equatoria State is aimed at reducing the prevalence and impact of violence. Key activities will include conducting patrols in risky areas, protective accompaniments, advocacy, conducting trainings workshops, awareness raising activities etc. Through this intervention, Switzerland contributes to creating sustainable grassroots-led peaceful solutions to conflict, promotion of Human Rights, SGBV prevention and response among conflict affected communities.


Towards Transparent, Inclusive and Accountable Governance in the Republic of Macedonia

The project aims at increasing gender equality in Macedonia and the quality of life for women and vulnerable groups by 1) systematically integrating a gender perspective in public policies and budgets which leads to the allocation of more funds for greater gender equality in strategies and policies; 2) empowering women and vulnerable groups to advocate for their needs in municipal planning and budgeting; and 3) supporting CSOs and Members of Parliament in overseeing the implementation of gender responsive policies and initiatives.


Support to the Juvenile Justice Reform

01.05.2018 - 30.11.2021

Since 2010, the child justice system in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has undertaken a process of reform to which UNICEF, SDC and Sida have greatly contributed. Today the legal framework on juvenile justice is compliant with international standards, but the system for its implementation still needs to be strenghtened. This last project phase will focus on building the human capacity of justice and child protection professionals, and ensuring that adequate financial means are provided by the Government to implement this framework throughout the country. Awareness of children and their families about their rights and demanding access to justice will also be a priority.


Gender transformative SRHR Systems for Improved HIV prevention

01.04.2018 - 31.12.2021

This programme contributes to the reduction of HIV infections and the improvement of sexual and reproductive health status of adolescents and young people in five Southern African countries. It strengthens capacities of communities and governments in mapping and addressing HIV and Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) needs of young people and advocates for integrated regional policies and frameworks.

Programme Psychosocial dans la Région des Grands Lacs

01.01.2018 - 31.12.2021

Le programme contribue à la diminution des violences envers les femmes et à l’amélioration de leur statut au Burundi, Rwanda et République Démocratique du Congo. Cette nouvelle phase consolidera les acquis de la prise en charge communautaire et holistique, tout en renforçant les capacités de réponse d’ONGs locales et d’une organisation régionale. Elle mettra aussi l’accent sur le plaidoyer politique, la lutte contre l’impunité, la recherche et la gestion des savoirs.
