Engagement for peace and security, and promoting human rights are just two of Switzerland's priorities at the 72nd UN General Assembly.
This year the FDFA will once again be organising the International Career Day. On 21 April 2017 various international organisations will present their activities and the career opportunities they provide at the Kulturcasino in Bern. The day is aimed at new graduates and young academics with work experience who are considering a career in an international organisation.

On Public International Law Day 2016 the Directorate of International Law will present the various stages of the restitution of stolen assets. Experts from various fields will report on their experiences.

President of the Swiss Confederation Johann N. Schneider-Ammann and Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter attend the UN General Assembly in New York. Before that event, Federal Councillor Simonetta Sommaruga had represented Switzerland at the Summit for Refugees and Migrants.

Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter is visiting Argentina and Uruguay from 26 to 27 May 2016. The focus of the visit is to strengthen bilateral relations with Switzerland’s partner states.

The Second International Meeting of the «Global Action Against Mass Atrocity Crimes» is taking place in Manila from 2 to 4 February 2016. It aims to identify needs and challenges in atrocity prevention and further develop prevention strategies.

The 2015 annual conference of the FDFA Human Security Division will be on the theme of "Switzerland and mediation: Focusing on peace".

Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter is in Jordan the 19th and 20th October 2015 for a two-day visit. The head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs visits the An-Nhdah school in Amman and the Azraq refugee camp, both supported by Switzerland. On the margins of the OSCE Mediterranean Conference, Didier Burkhalter meets with his Jordanian counterpart, Nasser Judeh, to discuss especially the Syria crisis.
From 14 to 21 October 2015 a series of events will be staged in seven Swiss cantons to mark the Week against Human Trafficking, co-organised by the FDFA.
