Swiss nationals abroad

At the end of 2015 over 760,000 Swiss citizens had registered their residence in another country at a Swiss representation abroad. Swiss residing in Switzerland also made over 10 million journeys to other countries in 2015. These impressive figures underscore how much more mobile Swiss society has become, driving demand for services for Swiss travellers and Swiss citizens living abroad. In response the Federal Council brought into force Parliament's Federal Act on Swiss Nationals and Institutions Abroad on 1 November 2015.
