Relations between Switzerland and Barbados are good, but not intensive. Barbados is a favourite holiday destination, attracting thousands of Swiss nationals each year.

Key aspects of diplomatic relations
An agreement on the promotion and mutual protection of investments came into force in 1995. Switzerland and Barbados have also signed agreements in areas such as double taxation, investment protection,transfer of sentenced persons, air traffic and lifting mutual visa requirements. The Swiss Embassy in Caracas (Venezuela) represents Swiss interests in Barbados.
There is a modest amount of trade with Barbados. In 2015 Switzerland imported goods worth some CHF 1.1 million and exported goods amounting to CHF 5.9 million, including timepieces and jewellery and agricultural and forestry products.
Cooperation in education, research and innovation
Scholars and artists from Barbados can apply to the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) for Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships.

Switzerland and Barbados commenced diplomatic relations in 1980. Switzerland opened an honorary consulate on the island in 1993.
