The tasks of the embassy

In July and August 2018, several earthquakes of varying magnitude struck the island of Lombok and the Gili Islands. They have claimed over 400 lives and have caused massive damage. The repair of the infrastructure may take several months.

It is highly recommended to contact your travel agency or airline before travelling to Lombok and/or the Gili Island to check whether your travel arrangements are subject to disruption.

If you are staying in the earthquake affected zone you should continue to follow the advice of the local authorities, monitor local media, keep in touch with your travel agent and/or airline, and keep up-to-date on the situation with your acquaintances or your hotel. Please follow our travel advice and read the recommendations of the Swiss Seismological Service (SED).

Please note that the Indonesian Foreign Ministry has opened a «Visitor Helpdesk Hotline» under the number +62 878 6412 4151.
