Security situation in the Middle East

Dear Swiss Nationals

Due to the current security situation in the Middle East, disruptions to air travel are to be expected. We sincerely regret that you may be affected by the consequences of this crisis and that this situation may cause inconvenience or uncertainty.

Please contact your travel provider directly to obtain advice on the options available to you. Your travel agency will assist you with rebookings, extensions of hotel stays, and the organization of your return journey.

If you have arranged your travel independently, please contact your airline directly for information regarding available flights and the status of your tickets or consider alternative travel routes (via India, Turkey, or Southeast Asia, particularly Thailand).

We also recommend that you register your stay abroad in the Travel Admin App of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).

This enables the FDFA to stay in contact with you and provide you with relevant information if necessary.

According to a communication from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, blocked tourists are eligible for a free 14-day visa extension.

Visa extensions are also possible in the Maldives. Affected travelers can therefore extend their visa via the IMUGA portal.

Please also follow the instructions of the local authorities and monitor the situation regularly.
