Important Notice to Swiss Nationals whose Return to Switzerland is affected by the Military Escalation in the Gulf Region

Travelers are requested to contact tour operators directly to discuss possible options. Tour operators can assist with rebooking flights, extending hotel stays and arranging onward travel. If you organized your trip independently, please contact your airline directly to inquire about available flights and rebooking options. If you have travel insurance, please also contact your insurance provider for support.

Swiss travelers are advised to download the FDFA Travel Admin app and register their trip. Travelers who have left the region are requested to update their details on Travel Admin or terminate their registered trip.

According to Department of Justice Order no. 159 (PDF, 1 Page, 130.2 kB) all affected foreign nationals whose valid stay expired on 28 February 2026 onwards can legally remain in the Philippines until 01 April 2026 without payment of any fees, fines and penalties.

In urgent cases, the FDFA Helpline in Berne can be contacted around the clock at +41 800 24 7 365 / +41 58 465 33 33 or by email helpline@eda.admin.ch

The FDFA travel advice provides information on the current security situation.

Important notice for third-country nationals in the Schengen area

Due to the military escalation in the Gulf region, some travellers may encounter difficulties returning to their country of residence.

If your stay in the Schengen area exceeds the duration permitted by your visa or if you face issues related to your residence status, please contact the competent migration authority before your visa expires:

  • If you are in Switzerland: contact the cantonal migration office responsible for your place of stay.
  • If you are in another Schengen country on a visa issued by Switzerland: contact the migration authorities of the country where you are staying. Contact information for migration authorities can be obtained via an online search or from a local authority.
