The Defence Attaché Office at the Embassy of Switzerland in Singapore
The Defence Attaché at the Embassy of Switzerland represents the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection, and Sport, as well as the Swiss Armed Forces in matters related to security policy and defence in Singapore. In particular, he liaises with the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Singapore. Additionally, the Swiss Defence Attaché is accredited to Australia and the Kingdom of Thailand.
Key responsibilities include:
- Representing the interests of Switzerland and the Swiss Armed Forces in the fields of security policy and defence;
- Liaising and exchanging information with the Ministries of Defence and other relevant authorities, as well as maintaining communication with the network of defence attachés;
- Implementing and promoting bilateral military cooperation between the Swiss Armed Forces and the armed forces of the countries of accreditation;
- Monitoring, analysing and reporting on security developments in the countries of accreditation and the broader region;
- Organising and accompanying visits from delegations of the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport, or other Swiss government departments;
- Contributing to the Embassy's security and crisis management system.
