Partnering for Excellence - Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships for Armenia 2019/2020

Each year since 1961, the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 other countries.

The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships are aimed at young researchers from abroad who have completed a master’s degree or PhD and at foreign artists holding a bachelor’s degree. Each year the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 other countries. 

From 1971 to 2016, seventeen Armenian Scholars have been granted by Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships to pursue their postgraduate studies in the Swiss centers of excellence. Today, they are already pursuing their successful professional careers, many of them in Armenia. This promising state of things also thanks to their experience in Swiss excellence. 

This year once again, University research fellowships will be allowed for scholars, doctorates and post-doctorates at Swiss universities, federal institutes of technology and universities of applied sciences (no scholarships for bachelor or masters studies). 

  • Research Fellowship Highly qualified postgraduate researchers from all academic fields as well as young medical doctors (12 month maximum, starting in September 2019).  

  • PhD Scholarships Highly qualified postgraduate students (possessing the required degrees) from all academic fields (3 years maximum, starting in September 2019).   

  • Postdoctoral Scholarships – Highly qualified postdoctoral researchers at the beginning of their academic career from all academic fields. No funding for sabbaticals (12 month maximum, starting in September 2019, Grant applications for stays lasting less than 9 months will not be treated as a priority. Grant applications for stays lasting less than 6 months will be rejected).

  • Preselection form submission deadline: 8th of October, 2018
  • Complete application submission deadline: 15th of November, 2018  

  • Please, note that any file that is not complete or not eligible will not be considered as valid! 

  • Attention: The Embassy does not partner with Luys Foundation anymore for the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships program.
