Embassy of the Czech Republic in Mongolia representing Switzerland

As of January 1, 2016 the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Mongolia is representing Switzerland for the issuance of Schengen visas. Therefore citizens with residency in Mongolia may also apply for their Schengen visa types A and C including diplomatic and official passports at the Visa Section of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ulaanbaatar. Please note that the same requirements, application forms and instructions as for the Czech Republic will apply. If the stay in Switzerland will exceed 3 months and/or will be for employment or marriage, the application must be lodged directly with the Embassy of Switzerland in Beijing.

Visa Information

The Embassy of Switzerland in Beijing and the Consulate General of Switzerland in Shanghai and Guangzhou are pleased to introduce a new visa outsourcing and information system with effect from November 2013 on.

Where to apply:

Residents of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui and Zhejiang shall apply at the Consulate General of Switzerland in Shanghai.

Residents of Guangdong, Fujian, Guangxi, Hainan, Jiangxi and Hunan shall apply at the Consulate General of Switzerland in Guangzhou.

All others residents of China, Mongolia and Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) shall apply at the Embassy of Switzerland in Beijing.

The TLScontact procedure is not compulsory. Applicants can also go directly to the responsible Swiss representation to submit their applications with prior appointment booked through TLScontact.

Important Notice:

The Embassy of Switzerland in Beijing and the Consulate General of Switzerland in Shanghai and Guangzhou are pleased to ease as of 27 October 2014 the requirements for certain categories of SCHENGEN visa applications.

Proof of accommodation and flight reservation is no longer required for the following purposes of travel:

  • business visit or short business training
  • cultural/sports events
  • visit to family/friends

Visa and Service Fee

07. 2016

  • Applicants shall pay a visa fee of CNY 440
  • Children from the age of six years and below the age of 12 years shall pay a visa fee of CNY 260
  • The visa for children under the age of 6 years is free of charge. 
  • The service fee applies for each applicant (children and adults). Applicants shall pay a service fee of CNY 162

Remark:

On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and China, the average processing time for short stay individual visa applications of Chinese nationals is as of January 2015 shortened to 48 hours (from the time of submission to the Visa Center, excluding weekends and public holidays) as a further contribution to Sino-Swiss people to people relations (for more information click here).

Please do not send any documents regarding visa applications to the Embassy or a Consulate General. Documents by fax, email or post will automatically be deleted or destroyed. All visa applications need to be submitted through TLScontact (exemptions: Diplomatic-, Service- and Public Affairs Passport holders, family members of Swiss or EU/EAA citizens – please refer to the rubric “General Information” below).

Applicants may still submit the visa applications at the visa section of the Swiss representation in person. However, the Embassy or a Consulate General allows only for a very limited number of individual applicants per day to deposit their visa applications directly at the visa section. In order to schedule an appointment to submit your visa application at the Embassy or a Consulate General, you must contact TLScontact. Please note that walk-in deposits are not accepted. Furthermore, please note that the processing time may be longer when submitting the visa application at the Embassy or a Consulate General.

Consulate General of Hungary in Chongqing representing Switzerland

As of July 15, 2012 the Consulate General of Hungary in Chongqing is also representing Switzerland for the issuance of Schengen visas. Therefore citizens with residency in Chongqing and the provinces of Sichuan and Yunnan may also apply for their Schengen visa types A and C including Diplomatic, Service and Public Affairs passports at the Consulate General of Hungary in Chongqing.Please note that the same requirements, application forms and instructions as for Hungary will apply. If the stay in Switzerland will exceed 3 months and/or be for employment or marriage, the application must be lodged directly with the Embassy of Switzerland in Beijing.

General Information

Official Passport Holders

Applications can be lodged directly at the Visa Section counter of the Embassy of Switzerland in Beijing and the Consulate General of Switzerland in Shanghai and Guangzhou.

Family Members of Swiss or EU/EAA Citizens

If you are a family member (this includes a spouse, registered partner, a child who is under 21 years and depending on parents in law of a Swiss national or EU/EAA citizen) you may lodge the application at TLScontact. The appointment booking is free of charge but the service fee needs to be paid.

Family members as defined above shall keep the right to submit their visa application directly at the Swiss representation. If you choose to do so, please note that an appointment still needs to be booked through TLScontact.

Please be aware, if you choose to submit your application directly at the Embassy or Consulate General the appointment time will exceed the appointment waiting time of TLScontact. In urgent cases, it is therefore recommended to lodge the visa application directly at TLScontact.

Visa D (study/marriage/family reunion/au-pair)

Applicants of a visa D shall book an appointment through TLScontact. The appointment booking is free of charge. The application needs to be lodged at the Embassy or Consulate General directly. Personal appearance is mandatory for artists and students (education and trainings).

Visa D (work)

Applications for a work or internship visa D (for a duration over 120 days) have to be done by the employer in Switzerland and are no longer accepted at the visa section (for further information please consult our links section).
