This exhibition is a tribute to Swiss artist Alice Boner's (1889 - 1981) promotion of cultural knowledge and understanding between the East and the West. Her encounter with Uday Shankar, and her commitment for his dance troupe gave her life the crucial twist. She settled in Varanasi and contributed significantly to the worldwide sensitization and understanding of India’s art history. In 1974, she received the Padma Bhushan from the President of India, Shri V. V. Giri, for her outstanding contributions.

Preview of the exhibition: Friday, 22 September 2017, at 6pm at the Museum Rietberg.

Opens for public from 23rd September 2017; on view till 14th January 2018.

Opening in the presence of H.E. Mrs. Smita Purushottam, Ambassador of India to Switzerland, Mrs. Corine Mauch, Mayor of the City of Zurich, and other guests of honour.

Curated by the Museum Rietberg, Switzerland, the exhibition has been presented in India, and the tour now ends in Zurich as its last destination.
